libdpkg-parse-perl software package provides module to parse various dpkg files into Perl Objects, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libdpkg-parse-perl
libdpkg-parse-perl is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libdpkg-parse-perl package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libdpkg-parse-perl *
You will get with libdpkg-parse-perl package name, version, architecture and description in a table
